Leaders Fellowship

Unleash your leadership potential

The Mission43 Leaders Fellowship is your opportunity to grow, connect, and lead Idaho forward. It is a yearlong, fully funded program designed for veterans, military spouses, and currently serving military members who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential. Selected Fellows will experience immersive training, build relationships with Idaho’s top leaders, and challenge themselves physically and mentally to expand their personal and professional impact.



All expenses, including travel, are covered by Mission43 for those selected. In turn, we ask for full attendance, engagement, and a willingness to be challanged.

What is the Fellowship?

The Mission43 Leaders Fellowship is designed to cultivate leadership skills and foster meaningful connections among a cohort of veterans, military spouses, and currently serving military members. Through a combination of immersive learning, hands-on experiences, and high-level mentorship, Fellows develop the confidence and tools to lead effectively in both their careers and communities.

COHORT VII

The Mission43 Leaders Fellowship is built around four key phases, and 100% participation is required in each phase.

PHASE

Lead Yourself First

A three-day workshop and retreat led by leadership expert Mike Erwin. Fellows explore the importance of self-reflection, solitude, and personal resilience as foundational leadership skills.

  • This phase includes facilitated travel and two overnight stays in Ketchum, Idaho.

PHASE

Wilderness Immersion

A three-day backcountry expedition in Idaho’s remote wilderness. This experience pushes Fellows physically and mentally, emphasizing teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving.

  • Thursday, September 18th - Sunday, September 21st, 2025
  • This phase includes facilitated travel and three overnight stays in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Wilderness, White Cloud Wilderness Area, and Frank Church Wilderness.

PHASE

The Leadership Experience

Six monthly half-day sessions featuring Idaho’s top business and community leaders. These discussions provide real-world insights into leadership, and professional growth, giving fellows access to a talented network of leaders.

  • This phase includes half-day sessions held at various locations throughout the Treasure Valley. Travel and overnight stays are arranged for Fellows living outside the Boise area.

PHASE

The Fellowship Forward

The program's culmination where Fellows reflect on their journey, share personal and professional growth, and present how they plan to create a lasting impact in Idaho.

  • This phase includes facilitated travel and one overnight stay in Payette County, Southwest Idaho, for all Fellows.

All aspects of the Leaders Fellowship are fully funded by Mission43, including all travel and accommodations. In return, participants commit to attending all scheduled events and actively engaging in the program. This is an opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone and grow alongside a cohort of driven leaders.

This opportunity is for Mission43 members who are eager to push themselves beyond their current limits, develop as leaders, and contribute to our Idaho community. Whether you're a veteran, military spouse, or currently serving military member, this program is designed to refine your potential. Fellows in this program are those who actively seek to expand their professional and personal development, are unafraid of stepping outside their comfort zones, and are ready to embrace both the physical and mental challenges ahead. Most importantly, successful applicants commit fully to the program’s phases and engage wholeheartedly in the experience.

What you need to know before applying

  • Applications open: January 1, 2025 - February 28th, 2025
  • Selection process: Candidates will be notified and moved through a two-phase application and interview process.
    • Candidates whose applications are selected to move forward will be notified and scheduled for interviews with the Mission43 selection committee
    • Interviews will be held mid-March and candidates will be notified of their selection no later than April 1, 2025
  • Fellowship start date: May 7, 2025

  • Various locations across Idaho, including Boise, Ketchum, and the Sawtooth Wilderness.
  • Mission43 covers all travel and lodging for Fellows outside the Treasure Valley.

To be considered, candidates must be active Mission43 members who are veterans, military spouses, or currently serving military members. Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to the entire Fellowship experience.

The application process is competitive, we encourage you to be thoughtful and thorough in your responses.

  • Applicants must submit an online application between January 1 - March 1, 2024.
  • Be prepared to articulate your leadership experience and future goals.
  • If selected for advancement, candidates will participate in a formal interview over video conference.

  • Applications are reviewed for eligibility, experience, and professional goals.
  • Priority is given to applicants actively job-seeking, transitioning from military service, or aiming for career advancement.
  • Candidates whose applications are selected will receive confirmation no later than 6 weeks before the course and will move forward with an interview for final selections.
